Wobkey Rainy 75 Review: A great budget mechanical keyboard

The rainy 75 Is a common sight on the R/MechanicalKeyboards Subreddita community that nerds nerds about the dock of a keyboard and of course, Nice keycaps. It seems that every week or such a person places his new purchase of Wobkey, and every time the consensus is about how good a budget option is. That’s because, for less than $ 150, the rainy 75 has every function you would like in one mechanical keyboard Today. There are a few strange design choices, but I finally have one in my hands and I am impressed by this keyboard.

The Rainy 75 is available in three flavors: Lite, Standard and Pro. The Lite sells for $ 129 and includes HMX Violet-Linear switches, a polypropylene plate and a 3,500 mAh battery. The Pro -the model I tested -including Kailh Cocoa -Linear switches, a FR4 plate, RGB lighting and two batteries of a total of 7,000 mAh for $ 159. The standard is between and costs $ 139.

Poppy, fresh and flexible

Typing of the rainy 75 feelings and sounds fantastic. It has Poppy, Crisp Typing Sound that you see online in videos, and typing feels just as energetic and enjoyable. I assume that the name “Rainy 75” comes from the type sound, because the softer and rounded sound profile sounds like rain falls.

The linear “cocoa” switches are manufactured By Kailh for the rainy 75. These switches have a relatively light worker of 45 grams, which is comparable to a Cherry MX RedAnd use a polyoxymethylene tribe (POM) and nylon housing, which helps to create a marbling typing sound and a smooth type feeling. The switches react, quickly pop up after being pressed and have hardly any scratches, even when they are slowly pressed down. The stems of these switches have few wiggles from left to right or from the front to the back, making key pressions feel firm.

The stabilizers on this keyboard are laid in advance and, despite being mounted on plate instead of printed circuit board-board mounting, they feel fantastic. Although I could talk about how smooth and quiet they are, it is easier to say that I didn’t even notice that they were there while typing. These stabilizers are perfectly matched and require no work from the box. That said, I imagine that, like most stabilizers mounted on plate, they need a lubricating lubricant after a while.

The gasket mounting system that holds the keyboard together is really impressive. It feels resilient and soft without being damped or mushy. The damping of the gaskets is consistent in all keys and only becomes somewhat stiffer around the edges.

Konish functionality

This keyboard has some peculiarities that, although not huge, can be annoying. Sometimes, when you are pressed on Alt+on this keyboard, or other key combinations with the Tab key, I have to press the combination twice to make it work. I have solved these peculiarities by putting the keyboard off and on.

Usually one of my favorite functions on a mechanical keyboard is support for QMK and via. QMK, shortly before quantum mechanical keyboard, is an open source firmware that makes almost unlimited adjustment of the layout of a keyboard possible. Via is a system for adjusting specific QMK-compatible keyboards using an In-Browser interface. These make a simple and efficient adjustment of mechanical keyboards possible, which means that a QMK-Intenscheld Keyboard will have long-term support without being dependent on own software that can be updated after a few years.
