WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he would nominate Senior Witte Huis assistant Lindsey Halligan to serve as the best federal public prosecutor for the Virginia office that was taught when the American lawyer was expressed on Friday.
In a social media post, just after he left the White House for an event on Mount Vernon, Trump wrote that he nominated Haligan as an American lawyer for the eastern Virginia district, writing that she will be “honest, smart and will offer, desperately needed, justice for everyone!”
The announcement came when Trump attorney General Pam Bondi insisted to continue with the pursuit of things against some of his political opponents, part of a vow for retribution that has been a theme from his return to the White House.
The nomination would place one of the legal defenders of the president who are responsible for an office in Tumult on political pressure by administration officials to accuse the attorney general of New York, Letitia James, an old enemy of Trump, in a mortgage fraud investigation.
Erik Siebert, who had been the best public prosecutor of the office, resigned in the midst of a push of Trump’s administration to submit charges in the study, which comes from allegations of paper discrepancies in the mansion of James’ Brooklyn Townhouse and a house in Virginia.
The Ministry of Justice has conducted research for months and there have been no indications that public prosecutors have succeeded in discovering a degree of burdening evidence that is necessary to protect an indictment. James’s lawyers have strongly denied all allegations and characterized the investigation as an act of political revenge.
Haligan has been part of the legal job of Trump in recent years, including serving as one of his lawyers in the early days of the FBI investigation into the preservation of Trump of classified documents on his Mar-A-Lago estate in Florida. She has recently been hired in an effort from the White House to remove what the administration argues is “incorrect ideology” from Smithsonian Properties.
Earlier Saturday, Trump posted on social media what seemed to be an open letter to Bondi, and said that he had “assessed more than 30 statements and messages” that he characterized as criticism of his administration for a lack of action about investigations, including those in James’ transactions. Trump’s message called the former FBI director James Comey, Trump’s old film that he shot in the middle of the Russia election interference research during his first term.
The FBI acknowledged this summer that the Comey was investigating, which was interviewed by the secret service after an Instagram post of which Republicans were on it was a call for violence against Trump. Comey said that he did not mean the post as a threat and removed it as soon as he realized how it was interpreted.
Asked when he left the White House or he criticized Bondi, Trump said he just wanted action.

“We have to act quickly – somehow,” said Trump. “They are guilty, they are not guilty – we have to act quickly. If they are not guilty, it is fine. If they are guilty or if they have to be charged, they must be charged. And we have to do it now.”
When announcing Halligan’s nomination shortly thereafter on social media, Trump said Bondi “did a great job”.
The selection of Halligan came only a few hours after another conservative lawyer, Mary “Maggie” Cleary, told the staff in an e -mail that she had been appointed acting American lawyer for the eastern district of Virginia, according to a copy viewed by the Associated Press.
“Although this agreement was unexpected, I am humble to become a member of your ranks,” said Cleary, a conservative lawyer who said she was falsely accused of being the American Capitool on January 6, 2021, to employees in the E -mail.
While Siebert said in an e -mail to colleagues on Friday evening that he had submitted his resignation, Trump said in a post on social media: “He didn’t stop, I fired him!” Trump noted that he was supported by the two democratic senators of the state, Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, and added: “Let him go like democrat next time, not Republican.”
