Susan Monarez, the displaced director of the CDC, said on Wednesday at Capitol Hill that the health secretary examined her for the stamp stamp guidelines without checking scientific evidence.

Fadel: It was a Trump appointment, as heard in this video. But the administration fired them within weeks. Yesterday the Senate held a hearing in which Monarez explained what happened. Selena Simmons Duffin from NPR was there.
Selena Simmons-Duffin, Byline: Bill Cassidy, Republican of Louisiana, chairman of the Senate Health Committee. He opened the hearing with a question to his colleagues who had only confirmed Monarez weeks ago.

Bill Cassidy: What happened? Did we fail?
Simmons-Duffin: Cassidy dropped a key vote to confirm Kennedy secretary, although he expressed concerns about his history of anti-access activism. The two men seem to be increasingly disagree. Exhibition A, Cassidy’s decision to keep this hearing and give Monarez the opportunity to tell her version of the events. On August 25th, she said that Kennedy put pressure on her to stamp the guidelines for stamp vaccine policy without checking scientific evidence.

Susan Monarez: He also instructed me to relieve career officers for without reason for vaccine policy. He said that if I didn’t want to do both, I should step down.
Simmons-Duffin: She said Kennedy was very annoyed and animated when she met that day.

Monarez: He called CDC the most corrupt federal authority in the world. He said that CDC employees killed children and they don’t care. He said that CDC employees were bought by the pharmaceutical industry.
Simmons-Duffin: None of them are true, she said. Senator Cassidy, who is a doctor by profession, asked Monarez what Kennedy had planned for vaccines.

Cassidy: Has he ever said that he would change the child’s vaccination plan for childhood?
Monarez: In this morning session he said that the schedule for the children in childhood would change from September, and I had to be on board.
Simmons-Duffin: Monarez was not on board. The next day she was released by the White House. In a declaration to NPR, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Human Services denied that changes to the vaccination plan have already been decided in childhood.
