I took a few glances Deathground Since it was announced in 2020: it is a horror of survival in a cooperative, in which a maximum of four players sneak and crawl through an abandoned research facility, persecuted by hungry dinosaurs at every stage.
In other words, it is a simulator of the Jurassic Park, in which you try to complement the goals and escape from the object, while the T-Rex fatally impressive Allosaurus, these cunning little Compsognathus (they meet), and of course terrifying predators pinch your heels. (Or more accurately, try to chew and swallow.)
I am not sure why, but at some point I began to assume that Deathground was a bit similar to the dead daylight, and in addition to the game as people trying to survive the object, players could also take the role of one of the dinosaurs for a little asynchronous PvP.
I am not alone in this misunderstanding: apparently it appears so often that Deathground programmers have released the FAQ film before starting access on Tuesday to dispel this myth. One of the first questions in the film is: “Can I play as a dinosaur?” And the answer sounds unambiguously.
“Deathground to PVE or a player versus the environment, so you won’t be able to play as a dinosaur,” says the chief artist and designer Joseph Shirley from programmers Jaw Drop Games. “We definitely think it’s a really nice idea and we talked about it as a band, but it’s a completely different game.”
It doesn’t mean it will be Never However, it will happen. “Maybe it’s something that we can do at a different time,” says Shirley. “Who knows what the future will bring?”
There is something that apparently appears often enough in the community to justify the answer in FAQ: the presence of feathers on Deathground dinosaurs. Over the past few decades, more and more fossil evidence has confirmed the theory that the dinosaurs have been feathered, and it seems that everyone loves the idea of deadly dinos that looks like gigantic birds instead of huge lizards.
Games Jaw Drop has a solution: in Deathground there is an option to completely switch feathers. I really don’t have a problem that people have with feathered dinosaurs, in person: my area is full of huge, wild turkeys and can be damn intimidating. If dinosaurs have feathers, I think it really makes them colder than lizards. Or not?
The film continues to answer a few questions about Deathground, such as items that are available to players during their mission, including an aliens similar to a movement and a middle rifle that you can use to drop Dino on his paths. Missions include tasks such as restoring electricity to the object or more sound tasks, such as the theft of a predator egg from the nest. (I wouldn’t really do it if I were you.) Locations of goals change between sessions so that the missions are different every time you play.
And although you can’t play as a dinosaur, you can at least play both solo and cooperation. “The game is certainly more difficult when you go alone,” says Shirley, but there are some changes in balance in favor of Solo players, and you can revive without the need to help a teammate to help if you get to you. Deathground launches on October 7 in early access for pairs.
