From the return from Wu-Tang to Drop-Kicking Zombie Babies, these are the most exciting and bizarre things that happened during Geoff Keighley’s Livestream event
In the midst of a vertebral week with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 and a whole series of large gaming announcements of Sony’s state of playing and Unreal Fest 2025, industrial match Geoffeyy again recorded the stage for his annual NOT-E3 event, Summer Game Fest. Live streamed from the YouTube theater of Los Angeles, Summer Game Fest 2025 delivered all the usual beats with a seemingly endless two-hour block of videos and personal guest appearances to give the audience a look at new and previously announced titles.
In general it was a pretty boring show, mostly lacking for earth’s having, apart from a few rather rumors and expected updates for existing updates. There were some clear places, such as a double unveiling for two new games in the Atomic Universe with Atomic Heart II And The cubeA big crossover in between Sonic Racing: Crossworlds And MinecraftAnd a couple of just looking indie titles. But after the Splash made by Keighley’s Own The Game Awards last December, especially after the Powerhouse Showcase in this week, where Sony revealed a brand new, Marvel Fighting Game, the vibes were simply not in LA
But although there were long pieces without much sensation, there were some important moments – from enormous sequel to large IP and downright bizarre games that the audience left speechless. Here are the best, worst and most WTF moments of Summer Game Fest 2025.

Best: ‘Game of Thrones: War for Westeros’ rewrites the end of the show
One of the earliest major revelations in the live show also provided one of the biggest surprises. A cinematic trailer for Game of Thrones: War for Westeros Unveiled a first look at the new real -time strategy game that takes place in the world of a song of ice and fire. It contains a shocking realistic version of Jon Snow (Kit Harrington, reprising his role from the show) with the Night King in the midst of a fiery battlefield that is reminiscent of the penultimate episode of the series. A voice -over starts and says: “You may think that you know how the game is played, but this is not the game you know.”
With that, the Night King Snow kills with a spear through the chest, followed by a stage of one of Daenerys’s dragons that are shot from the sky by a ballista bolt. That is definitely not how the story goes, right? In Playsside Studios’ Game of ThronesPlayers can play different scenarios that rewrite the story of the show in solo and multiplayer -modes -and perhaps they have made up the Canon fans that deviate from the controversial end of the TV show.

The worst: Deadpool is annoying in VR
In the typical showcase mode of video games, Summer Game Fest revealed a big name IP to huge applause before the rug, revealing that it is exclusively in VR. This time the scene was somewhat reversed when host Geoff Keighley a little comical bite with reading a personal note of an unnamed Goofball that becomes a Deadpool. (The letter is signed with a “wet on the lips” from Wade.)
Exclusively for the Meta Quest 3 and developed by Twisted Pixel, Marvel’s Deadpool VR A bloody action game is packed on the edge with dry jokes and visual gags and uber violence, which could be nice if it was not something that the death of the character of the character had been done in recent years. And although you would expect that the trailer at least has some energy, the voice work of actor Neil Patrick Harris (an ok Ryan Reynolds impression) is just as sleepy as the gameplay looks out.

WTF: Boxing Muppet?
In one of the strangest trailers of the show, Felt that: boxing showed what a Rocky-Styled -Story would look if it was fully acted by Muppets. From new developers Sans Strings Studio, follows the game Ezra “Fuzz-e” Wright, an apparently unacceptable point that makes its way through the tournament of a million bumps to save everything he likes.
A wild surrealistic parody of boxing film tropics, the visuals of the game seem to have been completely made with the help of digital puppet play and seems to play as a Gonzo version of Bump From the perspective of a felt pop that takes huge strokes. The music also comes to Flying Lotus, which contributes to the bizarre mature swimming vibe.

Best: Scott Pilgrim returns
After he has already announced new characters Rocket Raccoon and She-Hulk for the upcoming Beat-Em-Up Marvel Cosmic InvasionRetro Studio Tribute Games brought down the house in the YouTube theater with unexpected unveiling of Scott Pilgrim exat the beginning of 2026. To be honest, it was the first of very few big surprises of the night.

Worst: creepy undead babies and body horror bliks
Between the cozy cute games and colorful anime rate was an absolutely grotesque representation of body horror from developers team clout called Ill. A first-person survival horror game with photo realistic visuals, Ill looks Resident Evil On meth, players saw through shade -like cellars and corridors crawl as seeping, smoothly mutated bodies sneaking around and walking on the screen.
HyperReism drives home a number of deeply disturbing sights, such as the skin blows of the head of a monster dangling with entrails after a shotgun, but the kicker is a bodycam style order of a mutilated, spicy baby sprint maniacal before the player kicks it in a file cabin. It is impossible not to see.

The worst: make fps great again
Although the show was for the most part a guy, it would hardly be printed to say it was offensive bad. Except for this guy.
In a non-sequitur after the silence of the previous teaser, Ian Proulx, CEO and co-founder of 1047 competitions appeared, was on stage and attracted a hat that made everyone do a double take. It said, “Make FPS great again.” To hype the release of the game of his studio Splitgate 2Proulx focused on easy goals such as Call of Duty While he demonstrates his Capital-G-Gamer references such as old school Halo player. The developer leaned on a gigantic baseball bat and explained that courageously Splitgate 2Now, “damn great” is with the kind of conviction that is usually reserved for overvalued guys at the bar that you desperately try to ignore.
In an evening filled with everyday, this moment served as the only copy of genuine collapse.

Best: Big updates for current games
With only a handful of groundbreaking announcements, many of the best range of the show of major updates to games were currently available. In a confusing live-action-teaser with wrestler Kenny Omega in various forms of cosplay, Capcom showed the next wave of DLC characters for his flagship Vechtspel Street Fighter 6Including Sagat, C. Viper, Alex and Ingrid – all come individually between summer 2025 and spring 2026.
In an equally weird but also much more uncomfortable stage presentation, IO interactive’s CEO Hakan Abrak revealed that, on top of the coming game of the studio 007 First lightThe world of James Bond will come to his Stealth game Hitman World of Assassination With the recording of Mads Mikkelsen’s villain -like banker Lechiffre from 2006 Casino Royale. WTF: ‘Resident Evil’ Aas and Switch
Halfway through the live show, fans were very happy to see a video appearance by Maggie Robsterson, voice actor for Resident Evil Village‘s Schurk Alcina Dimitrescu. This would certainly mean that the recently rumors Resident Evil 9 would be announced. But excitement changed into deflation when Robertson transferred the presentation Resident Evil Director Jun Takeuchi who brutally announced that the announcement The next game would come soon. It was a huge disappointment.
And then it wasn’t. The showcase ended with a bait and switch unveiling of the sequel, called Resident Evil: Requiembecause of 27 February 2026. Although it was great to finally get a glimpse of the next entry into the franchise, the entire SCHTick felt like a random trick to inject some life in the procedure. The trailer alone would be enough.
