Commissioned by Napoleon, the lush opera Garnier is named after the architect, Charles Garnier. Garnier got up from the slums of Paris to design one of the most celebrated locations in Europe. Opera Garnier eventually became the inspiration for the novel and musical, “Phantom of the Opera.”
