Silicon Valley starts choosing parties in Musk and Trump’s break

Some of the controversial backers from Trump from Silicon Valley usually stopped on Thursday during the Trump-Muskflare or tried to focus attention on other topics, including bags and Chamath Palihapitiya, two veterans in the technical industry that also hosts the huge popular All Podcast, with friendly interviews with Trump and some of his cabinet -in recent months.

From Thursday afternoon, Palihapitya posted on X on Crypto, while Sacks shared a recent New York Times about AI policy. But their colleague -Podcast -Gastheren, David Friedberg and Jason Calacanis, placed what looked like cryptic references to the drama.

“China has just won,” Friedberg wrote on social media. “There are no real friends in politics – only mutual interests,” Calacanis said in a separate message. He followed with a meme that Musk figured out as a rapper Kendrick Lamarwho was recently involved in a tense feud with colleague musician Drake.

Adam Kovacevich, a former Google director and the current CEO of the Tech Industry Trade Group Chamber of Progress, says he thinks that the current Musk-Trump-Riff is not central to what most technical managers are really worried about the current administration.

“I don’t want to exaggerate the break, but the vast majority of people in the technical industry are currently not in accordance with anyone,” says Kovacevich. “Some perhaps appreciate what Trump has done, handed out to Crypto and the Biden order on AI, but at the same time there is still a lot of fear about rates. That is the biggest problem for technology at the moment.”

A former Democratic employee who now works with a tech investment company says that, although the Trump-MUSK fight, some people will indeed force some people to choose a side, it will not be a simple decision for many of them. “This is not 2012 – there are all these different components that now form the Trump alliance,” says the operation, which asked to stay anonymous because they were not authorized by their employer to talk to the media.

“The fundamental problem is that Elon was the gateway for people who went from the traditional Democratic technical industry to Trump and the Republican Party. And now the question is, will Elon be the gateway for the technical industry to come back?” the source says.

Two sources that spoke with Wired say that some investors and technologists may not easily embrace Musk because they are disappointed by how he dealt with doge. “Many people put a huge confidence in the idea that Doge could shake the government,” says the former Democratic employee, but the reality is that Washington is a different world than technology. “It is the least worst result for many, not the best result for a few.”

While the sun began to undergo on Thursday outside the White House, Trump and Musk still driven – and there is little sign that their battle will end soon. In fact, this can only be the beginning. As the right -wing technical investor Mike Solana put it on X: “And therefore, as prediction, the great technical law/populist right -wing schism from 2025 begins.”
