Pochettino says that Tottenham is ‘not realistic’ after USMNT loss for Turkey | Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino pushed back against suggestions that he is a candidate to take over the new vacant Tottenham Hotspur Management position, and told reporters on Saturday that it was “not realistic” for him to leave his current role as the US national team manager.

Pochettino was considered a possible candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou, who was fired by Tottenham on 6 June, even though he led the club to Europa League Glory – the first trophy of the club in 17 years. Tottenham, however, ended 17th in the Premier LeagueTheir lowest position since 1977.

Pochettino enjoyed a successful run at Spurs from 2014 to 2019, a challenge for the Premier League title in 2016 and continued in his last season to the Champions League final. He was released because of the competition of Tottenham – the club finished 14th.

‘After I left [Tottenham] in 2019, every time [the manager position] Is free … My name appeared on the list, “Pochettino said after the 2-1 loss of the US to Turkey on Saturday afternoon. “If you have seen the rumors, I think we are 100 coaches on the list of the club. Pochettino took over the American national team at the end of 2024 and in his first nine months supervised a mixed bag of versions. Although they lost, the US played with much more verve against Turkey than in March.
