It’s a great time to dive back into the co-op survival RPG Sheltered. That’s because the world finally has a feature that players have been asking for since it launched in Early Access almost two years ago: water.
Because water in Enshrouded is simulated in real time, you can dig canals to irrigate crops or power new crafting stations, and you can also move water in containers to fill your own lakes and ponds. The update even includes waterproof walls if you want to build an underwater base – and something tells me it will. Just be careful: if you remove the wrong block there, water will immediately start flooding your submerged house.
You’re not the only one moving to Veilwater Basin. A lizard-like race called Drak also intrudes into the region, and not only are they good swimmers, but they can also use weapons underwater – unlike you. You may want to fight them on solid ground.
As you might expect, fishing is also on the menu. Create a fishing rod and some bait and start checking the lakes for signs of fish. Using better bait can make for more interesting catches, and there is a higher-tier fishing rod that can be obtained from a new survivor located somewhere in the Veilwater Pool.
It seems that many players are already splashing around in the brand new water system: the maximum daily player count for the cooperative survival game has increased from around 12,000 per day to over 30,000. People certainly enjoy fishing and swimming.
The update includes much more than just water, such as a new maximum level and more powerful versions of all weapon types. Additionally, Enshrouded is on sale on Steam for 20% off until November 24. You can check full patch notes here.
