An NHS doctor has been suspended for 15 months by a medical tribunal after allegedly posting anti-Semitic comments on social media.
Dr. Rahmeh Aladwan, a 31-year-old trainee trauma and orthopedic surgeon, was also reported to have expressed support for “violent actions and terrorist organizations.”
The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) said that Dr.
Dr. Aladwan, a British Palestinian, denies making racist or hateful speeches.
She is currently the subject of a suitability review by the General Medical Council (GMC), an independent body that regulates doctors, medical staff and anesthesia staff to protect patient safety.
The GMC began investigating after complaints that Dr. Aladwan had made anti-Semitic or offensive comments on posts that also appeared to support terrorism.
The court heard that Dr. Aladwan’s alleged contributions
Her lawyer told the court there was “no evidence” that her activities had “any impact on patient safety or her ability to carry out her duties as a doctor”.
The suspension of Dr. Aladwan comes into force from today and will be reviewed within six months.
The hearing, which took place in Manchester, was an Interim Orders Tribunal (IOT) which decided whether Dr. Aladwan’s activities should be restricted during the GMC’s investigation.
It does not decide on the allegations being investigated.
The tribunal’s decision said it “found that there is no information to suggest that complaints were made by patients or that patients were harmed.”
Against Dr. Aladwan was given an IOT back in September, which stated that no restrictions should be placed on her.
On October 3, 2025, it was decided to review the case of Dr. Aladwan to be referred again to an IOT hearing after the GMC reported an “escalation in Dr The attack on the synagogue in Manchester in early October.
In response to the tribunal’s decision
She added: “This is not an end. It is the beginning of a much larger battle for the integrity of our institutions.”
The GMC’s social media guidance states that healthcare professionals have the right to “freedom of belief, privacy and expression” but that the use of social media “must be balanced against the potential impact on the rights and interests of other people”.
