JM Smucker plans to remove artificial colors from his jams: NPR

JM Smucker Co. plans to remove artificial colors from its products by the end of 2027.

Smucker from Orrville, Ohio, said on Thursday that synthetic dyes will also be removed from food that will be sold at K-12 schools by the 2026-2027 school year.

Smucker said that the majority of his products – including its non -crustable sandwiches – are already free of synthetic dyes. However, they still have some products, including sugar-free jams and ice cream tops.

Smucker said that some Hostess products they had acquired in 2023 also contain artificial colors. Twinkies are produced, for example, with red 40 and yellow 5, while snoballs snack cakes made of red 40 -See are produced, a dye in combination with aluminum to prevent them from dissolving in water.

Smucker joins a growing number of large food companies that have announced plans to remove artificial dyes. The Federal Government has strengthened its examination of artificial colors in recent months.
