in I want your mom to be with me!Ryo works part-time while trying to pass his accounting exam. He is also head over heels in love with his colleague Yuzuki, although she doesn’t know it yet. Yuzuki is a single mother whose husband died shortly after giving birth to her child.

Ryo thinks she’s great, and while the others warn him that they’re not a good fit, Ryo goes all out and asks Yuzuki to meet him with the intention of marriage.

He was refused.

She lets him know that a part-time worker like him can’t support a child and that she is a mother first and foremost. Despite the rejection, Ryo refuses to give up completely, and he seems to at least want Yuzuki’s friendship. And to make friends with Yuzuki, he starts hanging out with Yuzuki’s five-year-old son, who is obsessed with bugs.

I want your mom to be with me! it’s a casual story from life’s journey. It has moments of very funny humor where the artwork conveys the humor perfectly. Ryo is endearing in his adoration for Yuzuki and how he doesn’t care about her baggage like some guys might. Yuzuki is a sweet, caring character who treats Ryo more motherly than romantically. Son is hyper and all about mistakes, that’s something he and Ryo can talk about.

The manga describes itself as “super clean,” and while it never features anything really risque, it does have a few scenes that draw full attention to Yuzuki’s cleavage (although if you look at the cover, you probably already know that). But this manga is right in the sense that it’s mostly about people caring for each other rather than something carnal.

The artwork is solid, smooth, and captures the emotions of the characters well. Ryo and Yuzuki are likable characters, and while Ryo is rejected at first, the manga leaves it open for them to slowly bond. In fact, it ends with a pretty good cliffhanger!
