Battlefield Redsec is available now, having launched alongside it Season 1 Battlefield 6. The new battle royale game is free to play and also available within Battlefield 6, which can be a bit confusing if you’re just starting out. Here’s how to install and play Battlefield Redsec if you already own Battlefield 6 and if you don’t.
How to play if you own Battlefield 6
If you already own Battlefield 6, launching Battlefield Redsec will be extremely easy. All you need to do is make sure the game is updated to the current update, launch it and select Redsec from the main menu. You’ll see it listed alongside other options such as campaign and multiplayer. The patch is extensive, so give yourself some time to install it (on Xbox Series X|S it’s just over 21GB), but you don’t need to do anything else after that point. Enjoy!
How to play if you don’t own Battlefield 6
If you don’t own Battlefield 6, the good news is that you can still play Redsec for free – you’ll just be able to access it in a different way. There are separate clients available for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S that must be downloaded to play:
And that’s it! Please note that if you are playing on a new Battlefield 6 profile, you will be at a very slight disadvantage at the beginning of your Redsec career. The attachments and customization options players choose in Battlefield 6 will carry over to Redsec, but the differences between the various scopes and mounts are small enough that everything should be fine.
