Hollow Knight: Silksong Creator Thinks Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Will Win Game of the Year: “It’s Unique and Overall Enjoyable”

Hollow Knight: Silk Song developer Team Cherry has revealed that, as per the team’s belief, he will not appear at The Game Awards next month Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33 will win the Game of the Year award.

Asked by Bloomberg if the studio was preparing to visit Los Angeles, co-founder William Pellen diplomatically said, “Maybe not. We’re pretty busy.”

“This year, I think we’re safe. I think Expedition 33 [will win]” Pellen explained. “It’s unique and overall tasty. While we’re on a knife edge where some people are convinced by it and others are infuriated by it.”

In the same interview, Team Cherry also commented on this situation using mods after heated debates about the game’s impressive challenge.

Silksong’s difficulty level has been a topic of constant debate since the game’s final release in September. Developer Ari Gibson said earlier players “have ways to alleviate difficulty by exploring, learning, or even bypassing the challenge altogether rather than getting stuck”, although for some this was not enough. Shortly after the release of Silksong, several mods were released for the game which added some adjustable variables such as damage and health.
