'Growing number' British consider Israel's actions in Gaza as a genocide: poll | Courts News

The British sympathy for the Palestinian cause – and criticism of Israel – is increasing according to a new survey.

London, United Kingdom – Most British who resisted Israel’s war against Gaza believe that the attack, who has killed more than 55,000 people so far, amount to genocide, according to a new poll.

The survey conducted by Yougov and commissioned by the Action for Humanity Charity and the International Center of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) Advocacy Group, it turned out that 55 percent of the British are against Israel’s aggression. A considerable number of those opponents – 82 percent – said that Israel’s actions amount to genocide.

“This translates into 45 percent of adults into the UK who regard Israel’s actions as a genocidal,” said Action for Humanity and ICJP.

Details of the poll, with which people responded at the beginning of June to 2010, were released on Wednesday.

Sixty-five percent said that the UK should maintain the arrest warrant of the International Criminal Court for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he would visit Great Britain.

“It is clear that a majority of the audience here is disgusting of Israel’s behavior, and a growing number agrees that this is clearly a genocide,” said Othman Moqbel, head of action for humanity.

He added that anything but a few believe that the UK should do “everything in his power to stop Israel and seek justice against those responsible”.

“The failure of the government to acknowledge the scale of the crimes that Gaza are inflicted is not only on the wrong side of history, it puts them on the wrong side of today.”

Tens of thousands of British have taken to the streets in the last 20 months to protest against the war against Israel on Gaza.

The government of Prime Minister Keir Starmer has adopted stricter tones on Israel in recent weeks and has punished top officials. In 2024, the VK suspended 30 weapon export permits to Israel for use in Gaza in the midst of concern that Israel violated international humanitarian laws.

But critics have complained about the pace and power of the UK’s response and have called for stricter sanctions and measures that prevent Israel to receive F-35 components made in Great Britain.

The survey also emphasized the positions of British who voted for the Labor party on the general elections of 2024.

Of the 68 percent of labor voters who are against Israel’s actions in Gaza, 87 percent believe they amount to genocide. Seventy-eight percent of labor voters said that the UK should maintain the ICC arrest warrant for Netanyahu.

The UK has suggested It would comply with the ICC command.

“The British government is completely in contact with the British audience that they have to represent, and the Labor Party has no more contact with their own voters,” said Jonathan Purcell of the International Center of Justice for Palestinians.

“The British policy -making must be based on compliance with international legal compulsory obligations, but this poll only shows the level of popular support for such a policy. There is absolutely no appetite to drag our national reputation through the mud by standing with a villain state, Paria -state.”
