After weeks of some Google Maps users, their timelines had been wiped away from all the places they visited, as spotted by 9to5Google Earlier this month, Google confirmed that the data from some users have been deleted and in some cases irreparable. In a statement to Google spokesperson Genevieve Park said: “We briefly experienced a technical problem that for some people caused the deletion of timeline data.” Only users who had called in backups can restore their timelines according to the statement.
Google recently Data and back -ups do not seem to be on as standard. To switch them on, go to your timeline in the maps app and update the settings of the Cloud icon there. The incident ensured that some users lose years of location history.
