Bradenton-Toronto Right-handed Kevin Gausman had a short but solid spring debut when the Blue Jays fell 7-6 for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Gausman did not allow a hit, one ran and threw two more than 1 2/3 innings in his first start of spring training before he made way for Josh Walker.
Gausman starts his fourth season with the Jays and the 13th of his career. He returned from a rough April last year to end the season 14-11 2024 with an average of 3.83 earned run.

Down 7-3, Toronto made it close by with back-to-back homers in the eighth one-run Homer of Arjun Nimmala and a solo-gay from Alan Roden-but ended the comeback when Davis Schneider land to end the ninth to end the ninth.
Alejandro Kirk and Anthony Santander also lived for Toronto, while Damiano Palmegiani hit an RBI doubles.
Toronto (6-4) organizes the Boston Red Sox in Dunedin, FLA on Thursday afternoon.
