EA is updating the staff in the FAQ section
Electronic Arts says it will “maintain creative control” and “experiences of creative freedom and player-first values” across its planned new owner. That’s according to an updated FAQ addressed to employees, which answers questions about the “cultural change” that is part of the deal to take the game publisher private.
EA’s claim that it will continue to be creative extends to: previously published version of this FAQ it was updated last weekand noticed by Game file. The language echoes a promise made by EA CEO Andrew Wilson he said in September, when the $55 billion deal to take EA private was announced“Our values and commitment to players and fans around the world remain unchanged.”
Also new in this FAQ is language regarding EA’s new owners: “The consortium believes in our vision, our leadership and the strength of our teams. They are investing in EA because they believe we are uniquely positioned to lead the future of entertainment.”
This may go a long way to alleviate the concerns of employees, and especially some fans of EA games Sims and RPG brand BioWare, who expressed concern about the conservative influence of potential future owners EA – Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fundprivate equity fund Silver Lake and Affinity Partners, an investment company founded by Jared Kushner.
Some EA employees feel this way he reportedly expressed concerns whether EA will reduce inclusivity and other so-called political elements in its games in the future. Similarly, some Sims content creators were concerned about representation and inclusion The Sims 4with some leaving the EA Creator Network in protest. Analysts have identified BioWare’s LGBTQ-friendly brands (Mass Effect and Dragon Age) as potential burdens for new EA owners, calling the studio and its titles “prime candidates” for sale.
The acquisition to take Electronic Arts private is expected to complete in 2026.
