Climb the dark fantasy tower and find the lottery code in Pocketpair’s looter shooter Vision Quench

Listen, I have a lot of problems with Palworldbut give credit where credit is due, after announcing them enter the publishing business earlier this year they prepared a set of games. Dead Take, psychological horror complete Baldur’s Gate 3Neil Newbon and Ben Starr from Final Fantasy 16, launched earlier this yearJust a truck looks like a delightand now there’s Vision Quench, a game for geeks like me who like fantasy to get a little technical.

How do we begin to explain Vision Extinction? Genre-wise, it’s described as a “dark fantasy online looter shooter,” but I’ve never found genres to be a huge selling point. The “About Me” section is a bit more tempting. You will find yourself in a place called the Green Tower, which you must climb to get the Lottery Code. Along the way, you’ll need to collect various cursed goods to perform a “ritual”, or alternatively consume them to gain certain abilities.

The whole thing is suitably fantastic and modern at the same time. The setting is a dungeon, but there are computers where “dark mining used for dark rituals” takes place, toilets, soda cans, ventilation systems, vending machines, all amidst hand monsters and evil rats and other mysteries.

Aesthetically, the game reminds me of fantasy game renders you’d find in 90s magazines, there’s a colorful mess to it that’s hard to pinpoint anywhere else. Your character might be wearing a bucket instead of a helmet while wearing a camouflage sweatshirt, reflective pants and, I think, Crocs, while another friend donned a knight’s helmet with a gun in his hand. It’s a fantasy about four friends poking around in a digital world that they may or may not have hacked, and I love it.

That’s exactly four friends. This is one of those games that I still don’t know what to call it, but if I do mean it Killer Company or Peak, you know what I mean.
