The High Street Pharmacy Chain boots ask customers to return packs with 500 milligram paracetamol tablets, since a labeling error incorrectly determines that they are a different pain reliever, aspirin.

More than 110,000 packs, the batch number 241005 and the expiry date “12/2029” are affected below.

Customers can receive a complete refund without receipt.

Boots and the supplier Aspar Pharmaceutical Limited have started a complete examination.

The outer box packaging is correctly labeled: “Paracetamol 500 mg tablets”, but the internal foil blister paper pills is instead: “Aspirin 300 mg dispersable tablets”.

The packs concerned should not be used or kept, even if the error is known, as this can lead to an incorrect dose.

And everyone who bought this product for someone else should tell you as soon as possible.

“Find advice”

Dr. Stephanie Millican from the regulatory authority Medicines and Healthcare Products (MHRA) said: “The safety of the patients is always our priority.

“It is of crucial importance that you check the packaging of your boots paracetamol 500 mg tablets 16S. If the batch number 241005 is, you should no longer use the product and return to a boot storage to get a complete refund.

“If you are not sure which package you bought or boots paracetamol 500mg tablets and experienced side effects, look for advice from a medical specialist.

“Please report all the suspected disadvantageous reactions about the yellow card scheme of the MHRA.

“If you have any questions or need more advice, please seek advice from your pharmacist or another relevant health profession.”

Paracetamol is an effective pain reliever against light or moderate pain. It can be better than aspirin for headache, toothache, sprains and stomach pain.

Aspirin can be better than paracetamol for time pain or migraines, says the NHS.

Aspirin stops that your body makes connections that are called prostaglandins, and this reduces pain and reduces swelling and high temperature.

Ibuprofen – Another kind of pain reliever, which is known as non -stertoidal anti -inflammatory drug or NSAID, acts in a similar way as aspirin.
