Blizzard has finally shared How Hero Bans will work in competitive Overwatch 2. The new step lets teams forbid heroes that they think they are overwhelmed or annoying to play against, without having them play who may want to play their opposite team. The function is a common part of other competitive games such as League of LegendsAnd is a meta game in itself.
For Overwatch 2Blizzard hopes to use the “banphase” to have players removed, they find frustrating and collect data to use when the game is expanded again. When you start a competitive match for the first time, you will get the option to select your “preferred hero” that signals to your team that you do not want to forbid. Then you arrange three heroes that you want to remove from the competition, with your first choice given the most weight, and your last choice, the least. Blizzard says that all teams and players vote at the same time, but chat will be blocked between opposite teams until voting ends.
As soon as all votes are received, they are taken together with the help of the following guidelines:
-
The team with the most votes for a specific hero will be considered the ‘first’ team and will guarantee that their chosen hero has been banned. In the case of a draw, the first team is randomly decided.
-
Then the other team becomes the “second” team. If the heroes they voted to prohibit were not the forbidden hero of the first team, then their most and second most stunned heroes are forbidden.
-
If the most or second most tuned choice of the second team was also the first team, the third most tuned hero of the second team will be removed instead.
-
And finally, the second most vented hero in the first team is forbidden, with the same reservation that the second team had.
When the number of votes is bound for a hero, the game chooses the hero voted by most players in the lobby (and not the total number of votes). The tires that continue are randomly broken, and regardless of how the voices shake, there is a limit of two forbidden per roll. If you do not want to prohibit heroes or do not know who to prohibit, you can also skip votes and let your teammates decide for you.
Blizzard first announced that it would add heroes bans Overwatch 2 with his Season 15 AnnouncementWho introduced a perks system to the game. Hero Bans will arrive on April 22 with season 16, which also includes the new stadium mode, five-on-five matches where players earn currency to spend upgrades between rounds and have the option to play in the third person.
