A specialist surgeon was suspended at a world-famous NHS hospital after children under their care had permanent injuries.

A review was commissioned in the Adenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge after the surgeon’s colleagues expressed concerns in October.

The NHS Foundation Trust of the University Hospitals of Cambridge University said that an independent expert had fallen “under the expected standards” several times in the past two and a half years in the past two and a half years.

The managing director of the trust, Roland Sinker, said: “We are very sorry that this has happened, and we apologize without unconditional to our patients and their families.”

Adenbrooke’s is the eastern England Major Trauma Center.

The review concluded in January analyzed a number of complex cases of pediatric hip surgery carried out in the hospital.

Part of the children’s quality of life was affected, including their mobility.

The procedures in question did not lead to an amputation, but some of the children had to need another operation that they would otherwise not need, the trust said.

The doctor was accepted by restricted obligations during the examination.

They were suspended after the review and were “completely cooperated with the process of the trust,” said Sinker.

A helpline was made available to parents who had received concerns about the treatment of their children.

The trust also contacted the patients and their families to make appointments and to receive further clinical reviews if necessary.

Mr. Sinker said: “We take this matter extremely seriously and are committed to ensuring that all affected patients and families receive adequate care and support.”

The Hospital Trust contacted General Medical Council, the NHS England and the Care Quality Commission in the light of the review.

“We will find whether there were opportunities to determine these concerns earlier and all immediate and long -term changes,” added Sinker.

He said a further review was planned in which all operations carried out by the surgeon during their employment during their employment were examined.

It is the second NHS hospital that carries out a complex operation that has checked the work of a pediatric surgeon in the past six months.

In September the Great Ormond Street Hospital in the center of London checked the cases of around 700 children According to concerns about one of his doctors.
