According to the leaker, Microsoft may be forced to increase the prices of Xbox consoles again due to the global RAM shortage

Microsoft is reportedly considering another price increase for Xbox consoles.

Although Microsoft has already increased the price of its hardware twice this year – once in MayAND then again for US players in September – reports claim that global RAM shortages could cause hardware prices to rise again.

According to Moore’s Law is dead (By TGP), Microsoft has warned its partners that ongoing RAM shortages and rising costs could lead to higher prices for customers as AI-powered data centers take up huge amounts of memory, leaving little room for consumer electronics.

“[Microsoft] I clearly didn’t plan ahead at all,” Moore’s Law is Dead stated. “If for some reason you still want an Xbox at its current price, those prices may soon go up or supply may simply run out completely, as Microsoft sales reps have apparently warned multiple sources of mine that Xbox Series consoles will be impacted very, very soon. Sooner rather than later.”

Interestingly, according to Moore’s Law Is Dead, this isn’t necessarily an industry-wide problem.

“From what I’ve heard, Sony has planned ahead, purchased large amounts of RAM at the lowest price, so it should last for many months,” Moore’s Law added.

“They have a lot of GDDR6 memory, at least that’s what I’ve been told. Prices may go up eventually; I can see that happening next year… but there’s a reason Sony is lowering PlayStation 5 prices for Black Friday.”

“They’re not just doing it because of some extreme move or bad sales. They can afford it; they’re clearly not worried about RAM shortages, at least in the short to medium term.”

This situation is further exacerbated by recent growth price of Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription and level changes. Game Pass Ultimate will now cost $29.99 / £22.99 per month. Includes access to over 75 issues published on the first day of the year, as well Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ classics. The quality of cloud gaming will also be improved. There is also a new rewards program available.
