The best Android -Phones for 2025

Although the specifications have not changed much compared to last year, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra's 6.8-inch 120Hz Amoled display is still easily one of the best smartphone screens on the market.

Choosing the best Android phone can feel overwhelming, because there are so many options from so many brands, it’s hard to know where to start. In contrast to Apple, which holds on to its slim line -up of iPhones, Android offers a world of variation. Whether you look at the latest flagship in Samsung, a budget-friendly smartphone from Motorola or something unique with a foldable design, there is an Android device that meets your needs.

The beauty of Android is the flexibility. You can find telephones with different screen sizes, camera setups, battery life and even quirky extras such as stylus support or robust builds. Moreover, with Android you can adjust your device to the content of your heart – something that Apple fans can have jealous. We have tested and investigated the best Android phones to help you find the right one for your budget, lifestyle and technical preferences.

When it comes to choosing our favorite Android phones, the most important things we are looking for are fairly simple: good performance (both compute and AI), a nice display, solid design, sharp cameras, long battery duration and a considerable dedication to continuous software support. For performance we not only look at benchmarks and other statistics, but we also evaluate phones based on responsiveness. Regardless of whether you are reading, text messages, scrolling through social media or playing a game, nobody wants a gadget that feels slow.

When it comes to displays, we generally prefer OLED panels that can produce rich, saturated colors with at least 600 Nits brightness, although many of our top middle class and high-end phones can hit 1,000 nits or more. And more recently, most of our favorite devices also support screens with rapid refreshing speeds of 90Hz or 120Hz, which adds an extra level of slippery and fluidity.

Now we will admit that there is a bit of subjectivity when deciding which telephones look the best, but there are other design aspects such as dust and water resistance or screen duration that can make a big difference for long -term survival. It is also important to consider things as support for wireless charging, power exchange (aka reverse wireless charging) and UWB connectivity, which can have an impact on how your phone deals with your other devices.

It is clear that for photos we are looking for sharp, colorful recordings in both clear and little light conditions. And we want video clips with a high dynamic range, rich audio and flexible image stabilization. Extra cameras for ultra-wide and telephone lenses are a plus. The best cameras must also contain functions such as special night modes, support for different resolutions for recording video recording and extra photo modes such as Timelapse, Slow Motion and more.

Finally, in terms of a long service life, we are looking for the battery life all day on devices that have also delivered great results on our local video run test (at least 16 hours on load, but more is clearly better). Wireless charging options have become almost omnipresent in recent years and most of our top choices have this extra benefit. Fast loading is also available on some Android phones. Finally, with people who hold their phones for longer than ever, we would like to see companies commit themselves for at least three years of software support, upgrades and regular security updates.
