US joins the conviction of the UN Security Council of Israeli strikes on Qatar

The United Nations Security Council has convicted Israel’s strikes on a residential compound in the Qatari capital Doha, aimed at senior members of Hamas.

The statement – which Israel did not immediately mention – was supported by all 15 members of the Security Council, including the US, who blocks traditional actions against the close ally.

“Council members underline the importance of de-escalation and expressed their solidarity with Qatar,” read the statement drawn up by the UK and France. Israel defended his decision to set up the attack.

Qatar has played a key role in mediating diplomatic efforts to terminate the Israel-Gaza war, which serves as a mediator of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel.

It has organized the Hamas Political Bureau since 2012 and is a narrow ally of the US and organizes a large American airbase in the desert southwest of Doha.

The emergency meeting was requested by Qatar, Algeria, Pakistan and Somalia. Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Hhani traveled to New York to be present.

“This attack places the international community in front of a test,” Al-Cani told the council.

“Israel, led by difficult extremists, went beyond any limits, any limitations when it comes to behavior. We cannot predict what Israel will do. How can we host Israeli representatives when they have made this attack?”

The ambassador of Pakistan, Asim Itikhar Ahmad, said: “It is clear that Israel, the occupying power, is doing everything to undermine and blow up any possibility of peace.”

In the meantime, Algeria’s ambassador Amar Bendjama said that the Security Council “was limited” because it was “even unable to call the aggressor, to qualify aggression as a violation of international law”.

The representative of Israel, Danny Danon, defended the attack and told the meeting: “This strike sends a message that should repeat over this room. There is no sanctuary for terrorists, not in Gaza, not in Tehran, not in Doha.”
