TV presenter Lorraine Kelly has announced that she will be operated on to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes.
The 65-year-old said in a post on Instagram that the operation was “purely preventive”. She said the procedure was carried out with a keyhole surgery and that it used to be subjected to scans and told the fans that she would be “completely ok”.
Kelly said in the post: “I just wanted to let you know that I have a little procedure today.
“I didn’t feel so good for a while, so I had some scans and tests and I have to take out my ovaries and my tubes.”
In the post office, the moderator said that she felt “very happy to be treated so well”, and thanked the gynecologist Dr. Ahmed Raafat and the hospital employee for their care.
According to NHS, key hole surgery is a kind of procedure in which small cuts are carried out to diagnose and treat diseases. It is recommended because the recovery time is generally faster than other types of operations that take six to eight weeks.
Since then, Kelly has received a message from prominent friends such as the TV presenter Julia Bradbury and the loose women star Katie Piper, who wanted her a “quick recovery”.
Susanna Reid, moderator of the UK, added: “I will send you the whole love of the world.”
Kelly celebrated her 40th year on television in 2024 with a special episode of her day chat show Lorraine, in which she has been presented since 2010.
She started her journalism career in the East Kilbride News after rejecting a university town to study English and Russian. Then she came to BBC Scotland as a researcher in 1983 as a researcher.
In 1984 Kelly started on television as a reporter on television via Scottish News and started her career in Good Morning Britain in 1990 before she received her own show.
