Ange Postecoglou – Fan Jeers and a Cupped Ear: Does Tottenham Head Coach feel the friction?

Tottenham -Head coach Ange Postecoglou looks more isolated than ever.

The Australian set up a short blow to the furious traveling fans of the half line after the 1-0 loss on his side at Chelsea, but by that time it could be argued that the damage had already been caused.

The second half of the second half of Enzo Fernandez was enough to bring a 16th defeat of the season to Tottenham and to leave them 14th in the Premier League – 10 points away from the top 10 – and the signs grow that some fans are enough.

Hans to “You Don’t Know what you do” came from the end after the midfielder Lucas Bergvall was replaced by Pape Sarr in the 65th minute.

Remarkably, SARR found the net with an excellent long -distance attack only four minutes later, so Postecoglou led his ear and turned to the end, only for VAR and then the goal for an error on Moises Caicateo.

When asked about the incident after the game, Postecoglou said: “Jeez Maat, it’s incredible how things are being interpreted. We had just scored, I just wanted to hear them cheering. Because we had had a hard time, and I thought it was a squat.

“I wanted them to be really enthusiastic. I felt that we could possibly continue at the time and win the game. I just felt that momentum was on us [side]. It doesn’t bother me. It is not the first time that they have stuck my replacements or my decisions. That’s fine, that’s allowed to do that.

“But we had just scored a goal, just scored an equalizer, I just hoped that we could get some excitement. If people want to read that I somehow try to make something about something, as I said, we had experienced a difficult time, but I just felt there was a little momentum shift.

“If they really stand behind the boys, I thought we had the momentum to end up on top.”

It’s just the last in a season of incidents between Postcoglou and sections of the fan base.

There was the recent exchange with an angry supporter after defeat by Fulham just before the international break, another similar happened back and forth after the defeat at home in Leicester and he confronted the end after they criticized players after losing Bournemouth in December.

He added when he was asked if he was alienating the fans: “You know what, I am a divorce with the world nowadays, who knows? Maybe you are right. I don’t know. But that’s not what my intention was.”

This only worsens the lack of progress on the field, especially with almost a full team of players who are available, because Spurs are looking forward to avoid their worst season in the Premier League era.

Former Spurs -midfielder Jamie Redknapp said it clearly when he said at Sky Sports: “Tottenham was terrible. It could have been so much more. Not good enough in a department from Tottenham. Chelsea was so much better.

“When Sarr scored, it seemed that Ange put his ears to say: I know better. There is a disconnection between the two [Tottenham fans and Ange Postecoglou] At the moment.

“It is not ideal for the manager. He has a number of large competitions ahead of him. He has to keep his head up, continue, work hard and believe in what they do.”
