Comb examination in the crawling of the Countess of the Chester Hospital widened

A criminal investigation by the hospital, in which Lucy Letby Babies attacked, has been expanded to concentrate on individual employees, the police said.

The Cheshire police said that in October 2023 she opened an investigation by homicide in corporate manslaughter, in which they focused on the decisions of managers.

On Thursday, however, the troop said that the scope of the investigation would now include potential crimes of the gross negligence make -up, which focused on the action or inactivity of individuals.

Det Suppt Paul Hughes said that several suspects were notified by the troop, but added that “no arrests or charges have been raised yet”.

The senior investigative officer said: “This is a separate crime for the homicide of companies and focuses on the grossly negligent action or inactivity of individuals.

“It is important to note that this has no influence on the beliefs of Lucy Letby because of several crimes in murder and attempted murder.”

With regard to the examination of gross negligence, Det Suppt Hughes said: “We will not confirm the number of people involved or their identity.

“Both the homicide and the rough homicide elements of the examination continue to be continued, and there are no specified time scales for them.”

He also said that between 2012 and 2016, his force would continue to examine the deaths and non -fatal breakdowns by babies both in the Chester Hospital and in the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

“Our priority is to maintain the integrity of our ongoing investigations and to support the many families who are the focus,” said the high -ranking detective.

A spokesman for the NHS Foundation Trust of the Countess of the Chester Hospital Foundation said that she would not be appropriate due to ongoing police investigations.

The message comes in the week before the submissions are completed in the Thirlwall examination in the Liverpool town hall, a public investigation, the events related to Letby’s insult.

Attorney Mark McDonald, who represented 35-year-old Letby, described the decision to expand the police investigations as a “big mistake”.

Mr. McDonald said: “We now have significant and important evidence of experts, who completely demolish the case of the public prosecutor against Lucy Letby and refer the finger in a completely different direction than what the police currently look like.”

Last month, at a press conference, which was arranged by Mr. McDonald, an international body of neonatologists and pediatric specialists, claimed that Letby was not responsible attack for babies.

The chairman of the panel, Dr. Shoo Lee, said: “In all cases, death or injury was due to natural causes or only to poor medical care.”

The results of the committee were adopted to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) that examined potential judicial officers.

Letby’s legal team hopes that their case will be returned to the Court of Appeal, which is authorized to lift their conviction.

Letby, originally from Hereford, served 15 sentences throughout life after convicting of seven babies for murder and trying to kill seven more between the newborn unit of the Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016.

The chairman of Thirlwall Inquiry Lady Justice Thirlwall is expected to publish her results in autumn.
