Rlje acquires ‘Descendent’ for SXSW Premiere

‘Descendant‘A LA-SET thriller about a security guard from an elementary school that has been unraveled after a close meeting was picked up by Rlje -movies Prior to the debut of the position at SXSW. The distributor will later set a theatrical release for North America in 2025.

“This film was a love work, and I could no longer be excited to work with Rlje films to take ‘Descendent’ to SXSW and further,” said writer and director Peter Cilella. “It really requires a village to bring such a project to life, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who made it possible.”

The Thriller, who marks Cilella’s directing debut, plays “The Walking Dead” actor Ross Marquand and Sarah Bolger of “Mayans MC” The film follows Sean Bruner, a man with trauma when the birth of his first child is approaching. Bruner discovers a mysterious beam of light during a graveyard and recovering with visions of alien beings and a smooth sense of reality.

Executive producers are Arianne Fraser, Delphine Perrier, Henry Wintertern and Mark Ward. The filmmakers, Mark Ward and Brandon Hammer van Rlje were negotiated about the acquisition.

“Descendent” will have his world premiere at SXSW on Monday.
