British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has established a framework for a plan to terminate the Russian War in Ukraine – a framework – a framework – a framework – a framework – a framework – a framework – a framework – a framework – a framework – a framework – a framework for protecting peace – while still strongly supporting us.
The proposal is the result of emergency interviews of European leaders in London after that of President Trump Heated exchange With the Ukrainian President Volodyymyr Zenskyy in the White House last week.
During the weekend, leaders from more than a dozen countries together to discuss a route map for peace and security for Ukraine, because the country is confronted with his third year of war with Russia. The Emergency Summit was also focused on working to preserve Ukraine’s relationship with the US and America’s involvement in the war abroad.
Starmer said that Europe should do the “heavy work” to secure a permanent peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, and that the UK should lead the front. He emphasized that “this effort must have strong American support.”
“Because of my discussions in the last few days we talk about that the UK, France and others with Ukraine will work on a plan to stop the fighting,” Starmer said at a press conference on Sunday. “Then we will discuss that plan with the United States. And take it together.”
UK leads on promise to stimulate military expenditures for Ukraine
The Prime Minister outlined four important priorities that would lead the proposal. The first was to bring Ukraine ‘in the strongest possible position so that they can negotiate from a power position’.
To do this, Starmer promised that the United Kingdom would perform his support for Ukraine. This includes a loan of 2.26 billion British pounds ($ 2.84 billion). Starmer noted that the funds will not come from British tax dollars, but rather profit from frozen Russian assets. Ukraine will also be able to dive in the 1.6 billion pounds ($ 2 billion), in British export financing to buy more than 5,000 air defense missiles.
Secondly, Starmer, European leaders said it was important that it is important to guarantee the sovereignty and safety of Ukraine. A third goal was to ensure that Ukraine had robust defensive capacities to protect themselves against possible future invasions.
The fourth goal was to develop a “coalition of the willing” between countries that want to guarantee and possibly offer troops to defend long -term peace in Ukraine. He said that “a number of countries” have shown interest in being involved, adding that he would leave it to them to announce their participation.
“Not every nation will be able to contribute, but that cannot mean that we lean back,” Starmer said. “Instead, those who are willing will now intensify the planning with real urgency.”
For the United Kingdom this means that you are preparing for the use of soldiers and planes, the prime minister said.
The prime minister said that such a coalition would rest on the starting point that the US will be involved – without using his own troops. “That’s why I spoke with President Trump last night before we develop work on this plan,” said Starmer.
During the press conference, Starmer responded to last week’s incident in the White House, where Trump Zenskyy reprimanded and described the Ukrainian leader as thankless.
“Nobody wanted to see what happened last Friday, but I don’t accept that the US is an unreliable ally,” Starmer said. “The US has been a reliable ally of the UK for many, many decades.”
Starmer emphasized the need to help Ukraine secure long -term peace, but also said that it cannot be at the expense of a “weak deal” that would allow Russia to “easily violate”.
The need to defend Ukraine, Starmer said, is crucial to prevent a broader conflict.
“I don’t want conflicts in Ukraine, in Europe and certainly not in the UK,” said Starmer. “The way to ensure that stability is to ensure that we can defend a deal in Ukraine, because the only thing our history tells us is that if there is a conflict in Europe, this will wash this on our coasts.”
